ADA Interactive Process: Having Hard Conversations

The ADA Disability Interactive Process is about gathering good data in order to conduct an individualized assessment if reasonable accommodations can be implemented for an employee. There should be no surprises when decisions are ultimately made, and the key to this is good communication. This means having hard, but human, conversations as you go through this multistep process – and, not just at the end. Understand when and how to prepare and have these conversations when conducting the Disability Interactive Process.
